• Air temperatures drop at the rate of 1-2C per hour

• ‘Extreme’ temperature drops

• Increasing the rate to 3C/h often results in cell death (Palta and Weiss, 1993)

• 1C/h, 17% ion leakage, 3C/h, 46% ion leakage
