key ingredient: weed-free compost, for any soil type, sand to clay
- fertility for plants, microorganisms, organic matter, good soil tilth
- sand may help clay soils, may destroy porosity (air, water space)
- peat moss adds organic matter, breaks down slower, quite acidic, no fertility
