Garden of the Month

Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden  sea form sculpture


Affiliated with the Tate Museum in London, this garden of the famous sculptor (1903-1975) is located at Trewyn in St. Ives, Cornwall England.  It is here she had her studio, worked and gardened after moving there in 1949, and used the sub-tropical garden to showcase her work which reflected natural forms. Sea Form (Porthmeor) -- inspired by the long waves rolling in on a nearby beach

Cantate Domino-- a combination of spirtuality and nature, another common element in her works; this spirituality rekindled after her son's death in 1953; the title in Latin translates to "O Sing Unto the Lord" and is the opening line of Psalm 98
