Garden of the Month, August 2001
Montreal Mosaicultures 
Mosaicultures are sculptures made of a framework and covered with small
living plants. These differ from topiaries, in that the latter are
plants trained into various shapes, with or without an underlying frame.
This is the second year of this unique international exhibit in Montreal,
Quebec, Canada. For more on the first year of this competition, and

website. While the first year emphasized gardens of various countries,
this year the provinces of Canada are featured. About 2/3 of the
exhibits are new this year from last. The theme this year is "The
