The Vermont CropMD (Crop Management Database)

Jeff Carter, Field Crop Specialist, University of Vermont Extension

The Vermont CropMD (Crop Management Database) is a computer program designed for Vermont to track and manage all crop records including tillage, planting, harvesting, nutrient and manure management, pest management, costs, etc.. It uses a series of files to capture, process and report field crop cultural and chemical data. The CropMD was originally developed by Penn State University. Through a cooperative agreement between Penn State University and University of Vermont, the Vermont CropMD version has been created to include specific recommendations for Vermont conditions. Entering data from a UVM soil & manure test allows the program to generate field specific nutrient recommendations for the specified crop and soil type. Other files beginning with “VT” have values established by UVM Extension. For more information or to order a program, contact Jeff Carter at (802) 388-4969 or email at jeff.carter@uvm.edu.
